About GITA Africa

Girls in Tourism Africa (GITA) is a Pan-African non-profit championing gender equity and female leadership in East Africa's thriving tourism ecosystem.

Our Mission

Breaking Barriers for Girls in Tourism

Founded in 2019, GITA Africa emerged from a simple but powerful observation: despite women constituting over 60% of tourism workforce in East Africa, less than 15% hold leadership or decision-making roles.

We bridge this gap through accredited education, enterprise mentorship, and advocacy — creating a pipeline of confident, skilled, and empowered female tourism professionals ready for the industry's highest roles.
