Tourism Education Programme (TEP)
Building Tourism Awareness, Knowledge and Pathways from an Early Age
The Tourism Education Programme (TEP) is GITA-Africa's education-focused project designed to introduce young people to tourism, culture, heritage, conservation, and the vast opportunities within the tourism industry. TEP creates practical pathways connecting early curiosity with long-term professional success.

Primary School
Foundation StageBuilding early awareness of culture, heritage, wildlife, conservation, patriotism, and curiosity about tourism.
Secondary School
Direction StageTourism & conservation clubs, career talks, quizzes, conferences, and guidance on tourism career pathways.
University & Tertiary
Development StagePractical exposure, field workshops, industry interaction, mentorship, internships, and apprenticeships.
Post-Education
Advancement StageContinued learning, professional specialization, leadership mentorship, and long-term career advancement.
Miss Tourism Uganda Boot Camp Mentorship Session
GITA-Africa conducted interactive mentorship sessions with regional queens at the Miss Tourism Uganda Boot Camp. The engagement focused on personal branding, public presentation, tourism entrepreneurship, dining etiquette, and empowering queens to serve as impactful tourism ambassadors across Africa.
GITA-Africa Tourism Academy
Practical Learning & Professional Development
The Academy is our practical learning and professional development project. It connects theoretical learning with real-world tourism demands, equipping young people with practical skills in digital marketing, tour operations, hospitality, itinerary design, and tourism entrepreneurship.
Pan-African Tourism Academy Webinar
Organized in partnership with Utalii Hub Tanzania on September 5th under the theme "The role of skills development in creating opportunities for youth in tourism". The event convened young tourism enthusiasts across 11 African countries (Uganda, Congo, Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa, Sudan, Nigeria, Malawi, Botswana, Rwanda, Sierra Leone) to prepare youth for the Zanzibar International Youth Tourism Summit.
Regional Tourism Development
Building a Pan-African Youth Tourism Ecosystem & Cross-Border Collaboration
Tourism transcends borders, and so should the conversations and opportunities shaping its future. GITA-Africa actively fosters cross-border partnerships, familiarization trips, regional summits, policy engagements, and youth exchange programmes across East Africa and beyond.
African Youth Tourism Confluence (KILIFAIR, Arusha)
Held physically and virtually in Arusha, Tanzania during KILIFAIR. Convened over 35 participants with partners including Travel Specialists Community (Uganda), Utalii Hub Tanzania, Zanzibar Youth Summit, and Tourism Innovation Lab Africa (South Africa).
Government & Regional Body Engagements
Strategic meetings held with Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB), Ministry of Tourism Malawi, East African Community (EAC), TAWA, and UNDP Tanzania to advocate for youth inclusion in regional tourism policy.
Community & Private Sector Collaborations
Engaged Tanzania Association of Tour Operators (TATO), Girls Adventure Tanzania (Mt. Kilimanjaro girls mountaineering), Wamboma Women Agrotourism Enterprise, and Ma' Salama Resort Zanzibar.
Tourism for Health
Connecting Tourism with Wellbeing, Dignity & Community Social Impact
Tourism for Health uses the reach of tourism to address social impact issues beyond travel itself — including menstrual dignity for girls, clean sanitation in public tourism spaces, reproductive health rights, and community health drives.
Menstrual Health & Dignity
"Pads in Place" initiative distributing sanitary products and menstrual education to keep girls in school and active in tourism.
Clean Toilets & Tourism Hygiene
Campaigning for clean, safe, and dignified sanitation facilities across tourism destinations, parks, and host communities.
Reproductive Health & Safety
Creating safe spaces for reproductive health education, personal safety awareness, and health professional guidance for young women.
Community Health CSR
Mobile health camps, medical outreach drives, and social responsibility partnerships connected to tourism platforms.
Community Outreach with Youngsters Love Africa Foundation
GITA-Africa partnered with Youngsters Love Africa Foundation in community outreach drives supporting vulnerable learners. GITA members contributed towards donating scholastic materials and sanitary pads to promote educational continuity and menstrual dignity.
